What to Wear for Your Engagement Photos
I get it, engagement pictures can become just one more to-do on the ever growing list of wedding details or another way you feel like you have to compete with your friends and *their* stunning weddings.
My number 1 rule of thumb when getting ready for a shoot is to wear what you feel AMAZING in.
Period. We’re not trying to copy pinterest pictures here y’all. Pinterest pictures come from feeling like yourself and doing your own thing :) When you feel comfortable you look 1000x more amazing! With that in mind, here are 3 of my favorite tips for getting dressed for photos.
1. Pick two outfits: one that shows your individual personalities and interests together and one a little more formal. In fact, consider bringing a third outfit to complement your wedding colors or whatever it is that’ll make your parents happy ;)
2. You should both have a say in what you wear. Everyone is infinitely more likely to be happy at a photo shoot if you have an equal say in what you wear (even if that means the old t-shirt he’s had since junior high…) Compromise where you can. The photos should be a representation of the two of you and your relationship.
3. If you’re on the fence, ask your friends, and bring a few extra outfits to the shoot. You might not wear them all, but your best friends and photographer can help you narrow down what will look best on you two and will complement the location you’ve chosen.
Whether you take or leave any of the above tips, wear what you feel great in, don't overthink your outfit, and just enjoy this time to slow down and have fun with your fiance! Photos are meant to preserve your memories of each other in that moment so it's okay if your hair is a little frizzy, nail polish is chipping, or that he forgot to shave. That's your life and it's great!
